Former Pakistan cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad has lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not complying with the needs of domestic cricketers. While highlighting the faults in the system, the batter opted to not play domestic cricket further. Shazad has been vocal about the irregularities in the board, three days back he called out PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi for not taking courageous steps to improve the national cricket team.
The 32-year-old announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League in December 2023 after no franchise picked him in the auction. He did so by alleging the six franchise’s deliberate efforts to keep him out of competition. In a fresh allegation, he stated his decision to pull out of the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup and alleged the board of lacking ‘instruments for surgery’.
“With a heavy heart, I’ve decided not to play in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. The PCB’s favoritism, false promises, and injustice towards domestic players are unacceptable. In a time when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty, and massive electricity bills, the PCB is wasting 5 million Rs on mentors for doing nothing and rewarding failed players in the current team who brought Pakistan cricket to an All-time Low,” said Shehzad in his post on ‘X’.
“It’s even more disrespectful that the PCB claims they don’t have ‘instruments for surgery’ which is a huge disrespect for domestic players. As a Pakistani and true cricket lover, I cannot support a system that has no value for merit. I refuse to be a part of this failed setup,” he added.
