Jasprit Bumrah showed the world why his match-winning abilities are less talked about. He was at his lethal best in the T20 World Cup 2024 and won the Player of the Tournament award for his exploits. Days after India’s title win, Deepal Trivedi, a journalist, and neighbour of Bumrah during his childhood shared the heart-wrenching stories from the pacer’s growing-up days. As the story caught fire on social media, the 30-year-old has opened up about the phase.
More recently, the right-arm pacer revealed that life changed drastically when his father passed away early while he was in second grade. Shedding light on the same, Trivedi, previously revealed that the young boy and sister Juhika Bumrah came under her care while their mother hustled. She further revealed that kids had to struggle for biscuits as having a full meal became a constraint. Bumrah, though, straying away from the nitty-gritty of the phase, just mentioned that financial issues were the point of concern.

“As I told you, my father passed away when I was in second grade and my sister in fourth grade. Then we became really close as a family because life suddenly changed. We had some financial issues as well. So my mother started working,” said Bumrah as quoted by The Times of India.
“We became very close as a family because we went through a lot of ups and downs. But since then, that bond has become stronger and stronger. And that has only grown over the years,” he added.

Trivedi, in her elaborated post, had also mentioned how the Ahmedabad pacer desperately needed a windcheater, and she made it available for him, curbing her needs. She also mentioned how, Daljit Bumrah, mother of the star India pacer, worked more than 16 hours to make ends meet and see through her children’s dreams. Juhika, who works in the makeup industry, takes care of Bumrah’s appearance during shoots, and the pacer mentioned they do not want to change themselves.

“Obviously, she (Bumrah’s sister) is now in the makeup industry. She now does my makeup when we do shoots. But we, as a family, are very close as we discuss good days and bad days. We don’t want to change ourselves too much because we have seen ups and downs both,” he concluded.
