Ahead of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the official anthem of the tournament. The song titled, ‘Yeh To Bas Shuruat Hai’ starts with a Durga mantra, which is followed by logos of all the five teams and then goes the entire anthem.
Soon after the anthem was shared on WPL’s official Twitter page, it went viral on the internet. Since it contains catchy lyrics and music, it has attracted plenty of eyeballs and has fans humming to the tune.

WPL set to kick off on March 4
The tournament is all set to begin on March 4 with the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side Mumbai Indians taking on Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Overall, all the teams are scheduled to play eight matches each in the group stage and then, the top three teams in the points table will qualify for the playoffs of the competition.
The team on top of the table will directly qualify for the finals of the competition while the teams placed second and third will play a knockout and the winner will then qualify for the all-important final, which is scheduled to take place on March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium.
In the meantime, Delhi Capitals have announced veteran cricketer Meg Lanning as the leader of the group. The Australia international has won four T20 World Cups as captain and thus, has vast experience in the shortest format of the game. She has played 132 T20Is, scoring 3405 runs and has also led Australia in 100 T20Is, which is the most by any women’s player (as skipper) in the format.
