Australia Captain Pat Cummins struggled with the ball in the opening Test in Perth, resulting in India picking up a massive 295-run win. In the Adelaide Test, the express pacer was in his rhythm picking up a five-wicket haul in the second innings as the hosts managed a 10-wicket win. After the game, former cricketer Adam Gilchrist lauded Cummins’ skill and highlighted that the pacer was fired up in Adelaide.

The former legendary keeper-batter mentioned that the 31-year-old looked outstanding in Adelaide and highlighted his aggressive celebration after each dismissal. Adam Gilchrist also pointed out that the Sydney-born was subjected to criticism after the first Test but bounced back with a strong performance in the second Test.

“Cummins was outstanding, he looked like if there needed a bit of a grease and oil change after Perth and a tune-up, he was purring by the end of it, so that was terrific to watch. You could see just through his celebrations that… every wicket that he took he was more aggressive in his celebration. Not in that lose control extent but you could just see that clearly they’d been stung by a bit of criticism around after their performance (in Perth) and they internally would have been so disappointed with the way they played in Perth,” Gilchrist told Fox Sports.

Meanwhile, Australia are keeping a close eye on Josh Hazlewood’s fitness. The ace pacer missed the second Test of the series owing to a side strain. He is currently in rehab and a decision is expected to be taken 24 hours ahead of the third Test, slated to begin on December 14.

In case Hazlewood misses out, Scott Boland will continue to feature in the playing XI. The form of senior batters is also a matter of concern. Marnus Labuschagne scored a half-century in the second Test but Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith are yet to come to the party and make a difference.
