India suffered a humiliating 58-run defeat in their first T20 World Cup 2024 game against New Zealand. Their second match against Pakistan now holds massive importance as another defeat can ruin their chances of making it to the semi-finals of the competition. Ahead of that, middle order batter Jemimah Rodrigues stated that the players are working hard and they understand that every game is crucial for the team.

The 24-year-old added that the goal is to take one match at a time and if every player performs to their potential, they can get back to winning ways. She wants the team to stick to the process and play good cricket to return to winning ways.

“I think what we have been doing really well as a team is just sticking to the process and doing whatever it takes one game at a time. We know every game from here is so crucial for us. We know that. But at the same time, we’re going to go one game at a time and just make sure we stick to our process and do our job well. And I think if we can do that, I think if we play our best cricket, I think we can win matches,” Rodrigues said, as quoted by the ICC.

The one who plays well, wins the match on the day: Sana Fatima

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in their opening game of the T20 World Cup campaign. However, their record against India is not very good as they lost 12 out of 15 T20 internationals against the Women in Blue. Speaking on the same, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana explained that in the T20 format, there are no big or small teams and on a given day, they can beat the heavyweights.

“First of all, no team is small or big because it is T20 format. The one who plays well, wins the match on the day. So, we will try to carry the momentum that we have gained from here. Obviously, we have three big teams ahead of us. We will try to give our best with them,” Sana said.
