The Hundred 2023 women’s competition is in its third season and fans are loving the incredible action the tournament has offered so far. The league has contributed immensely to the growth of women’s cricket in England bringing fans to the stadiums and getting them introduced to the women stars of the game.

Recently, former England captain Nasser Hussain also credited The Hundred for the development of cricket in England. He also hoped that some English women’s players would get to play in foreign leagues such as the Women’s Premier League in India.

“We’ve got The Hundred…here in England and it’s going to be so important for their growth and their development to keep improving. Hopefully some of them, hopefully, the WPL (Women’s Premier League in India) will keep picking up some young English players to play in different conditions as well,” Hussain said on the ICC review.

Hussain further said that the exposure to play against big players such as Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana further benefits the youngsters in the league.

“I think English women’s cricket is in a very healthy place because of The Hundred. Because they’re getting that exposure to playing against some of the best players in the world. (India pair) Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur are over (in England) to play,” Hussain added.

Notably, the recent Women’s Ashes attracted record ticket sales according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) this summer which led to the board arranging their matches in some of the major venues in the upcoming season.

England to start their next summer with a T20I series against Pakistan

The Heather Knight-led side will kick off their next home summer with a three-match T20I series against Pakistan on May 11, 2024, at the Edgbaston. The second and third matches of the series will be played at The County Ground and the Headingley Cricket Stadium respectively.

The T20I series will be followed by an ODI series of as many matches with the opening game hosted by The Incora County Ground on May 23 while the second and third match will be played at The Cooper Associates County Ground and The Cloud County Ground respectively.
