After a couple of really poor outings, James Anderson was rested for the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Mark Wood, who replaced him in the middle, was fantastic, and thus, Anderson’s place in the last two matches of the series was under threat. Nevertheless, the team management has shown confidence in him as he is named a part of the playing XI in the fourth Test at the Old Trafford, Manchester.
Speaking about his return to the squad, all-rounder Moeen Ali stated that it’s great as Anderson can prove to be a force to reckon with. He added, saying that England are a better team with him in the mix, and expects the veteran pacer to bounce back and help the home team draw level after the fourth match.
“There’s no doubt England are a better team with James Anderson in there. In the two games he played I actually thought he bowled really well in both of them. I think he’s been a bit unfortunate with catches and things probably not going his way. Being the best bowler England have ever had and being a legend of a player and a great guy as well, it’s great to see him have the opportunity to play, it could be his last one, and hopefully, he bowls well and gets us the win,” Moeen was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
It’s going to be a challenge batting No 3 against Australia: Ali
With Ollie Pope currently out of action due to a shoulder injury, Moeen Ali is set to continue at number three. Speaking about the same, the cricketer stated that it is going to be really challenging, but he is looking forward to the opportunity to prove himself in the middle.
“It’s obviously going to be a challenge batting No 3 against Australia with the best bowling attack in the world. I’m looking forward to it. I do enjoy batting three, the challenge of batting three. I think for the team right now, it’s the best thing. I’m looking forward to playing against these guys and getting challenged. I know it’s not easy because they are obviously very good,” Ali mentioned.
