With the Australia-England ongoing ODI series heading into its fifth and deciding match, the Australian team has a challenge to look into both on and off the field. Opening batter Travis Head revealed that illness has affected several players in the Australian camp.
The five-match ODI series is currently tied at 2-2, with the tourists claiming victories in the first two encounters, only for England to make a brilliant back, levelling the series with a 186-run win at Lord’s in the fourth ODI. The final match is scheduled for Sunday, September 29 at the County Ground in Bristol. Head, speaking after the fourth ODI, opened up on the team’s current difficult situation
“It would’ve been nice to hit a few more, but I felt like I’m hitting the ball nicely, could just do it for longer. A couple of the boys have been crook and it hasn’t been ideal. Personally, I’m hoping to go out with a bang in a couple of days,” he said as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Cameron Green will go home and get things sorted: Travis Head
Despite the challenges, the southpaw is confident about his form and the team’s chances. In the Lord’s match, Head smashed 34 runs off 23 balls. His partnership with Mitchell Marsh provided a strong start for the visitors, but the team was eventually dismantled at 126 all out and suffered their second defeat of the series.
All-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour due to back discomfort and has been sidelined to prevent further injury. Head spoke about Green’s departure but is optimistic about his teammate’s comeback.
“Greeny’s gone home … I found out as we were getting on the team bus. I’ve got my phone back now and I’ll reach out to him, obviously disappointing for him, but he’ll go home and get things sorted. He’s been through these things before, Cam, it’s disappointing, but he’ll know the way to get back,” he added.
