The National Selection Panel (NSP) has named an Australia A squad to play the England Lions in a four-day tour match later this month. Australia A plays the Lions at Cricket Central from January 30-February 2.
Jack Edwards, an all-rounder from New South Wales, has been selected captain of a young Australia 12-man team that will play the England Lions in a four-day match starting on January 30 in Sydney. Aaron Hardie and Will Sutherland are also included in the squad.
Kurtis Patterson, 31, is the team’s oldest player and has been called up to the Australia A team for the first time since 2020.
“Following two Australia A fixtures against India A earlier this season which had short-term relevance to the Border Gavaskar Trophy, this match is a valuable opportunity to expose exciting young talent against quality international opposition with a longer lens,” National selector Tony Dodemaide said.
“We expect a highly competitive contest against a Lions team who will be keen to stake their individual claims for selection in next summer’s Ashes tour of Australia,” he added.
