England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed a revised schedule for Sri Lanka women’s upcoming tour to England due to the confirmation of the women’s cricket tournament at the 2023 Asian Games.

Notably, the first T20I will be played in Hove on August 31, while the second and third T20I will be played on September 2 and 6 in Chelmsford and Derby, respectively. Meanwhile, the first ODI will be played on September 9 in Chester-le-Street followed by the second on September 12 in Northampton, while the third and final game will be played on September 14 in Leicester.

Notably, Hove, which was originally scheduled to host an ODI, will be now hosting the first T20I of the series while Canterbury, which was also scheduled to host an ODI, will not be hosting any game.

Meanwhile, the series will be important for Sri Lanka as they aim to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games, which will begin on September 23, with the final to be played on October 8. Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapathtu was in brilliant form in the recently concluded Fairbreak International Tournament 2023 as the 33-year-old scored 281 runs in seven matches to finish as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. She also picked 12 wickets and finished as the second-leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

England’s aim will be to do well in the upcoming Ashes, which is slated to begin on June 22 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. After the completion of the one-off Test match, the two teams will play a three-match T20I and ODI series, starting July 1.
