Bangladesh pacer, Ebadot Hossain sustained a knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan at home in July 2023. He wished to travel with the Bangladesh team for the India series and was allowed by management to recuperate during the series spending time with the team. As it stands out, the 30-year-old is set to return to competitive cricket after a hiatus of 14 months.

Ebadot is going to feature in Bangladesh’s National Cricket League and will make a comeback with Sylhet Division’s fourth-round game in the ongoing first-class competition. His first assignment will be against Khulna Division in Sylhet’s round four match of NCL, starting from November 9. While the right-arm pacer braces for the comeback, BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury has hinted at levying restrictions on the pacer’s workload.

“As per our plan Ebadot is expected to feature in the fourth round of NCL and we want to see how he feels after playing competitive cricket. This is part of the rehabilitation process and there can be some restrictions in place (as far as his bowling is concerned),” said Debashish as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“He( Ebadot) has to get his rhythm back and the only way to get it is by bowling in matches and that is what we are eyeing to do at the moment. If he feels fine after bowling than it is okay but if that is not the case he can get some time to recover and work on areas that need to be developed before the BPL,” he added.

Ebadot has played 20 Tests for Bangladesh and has picked 42 wickets at an average of 47.14. In 12 ODIs, he has 22 scalps at an average of 22.90 and an economy rate of 5.60 with a strike rate of 24.5. The Sylhet-born has played only four T20Is and picked seven wickets at an average of 20 and an economy rate of 9.23.
