19-year-old cricketing prodigy Musheer Khan, following an exceptional first-class season, will reportedly join the India A’s tour to Australia, featuring three four-day encounters. Khan’s selection comes after a series of impressive performances that have caught the attention of selectors.
His recent accomplishments include a double century in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final and a century in the final. He ended his maiden first-class campaign as 433 runs in just three games for the triumphant Mumbai side. Apart from that, his resilient 181-run knock for India B against India A in the Duleep Trophy showed his ability to perform under pressure against quality opposition.
The India A team selection for the Australia tour is based on performances in the Duleep Trophy and the upcoming Irani Cup match between the Rest of India and Ranji champions Mumbai. A BCCI source, speaking anonymously, emphasized Khan’s exceptional talents. The source also highlighted Khan’s impressive temperament, noting his ability to play 373 balls over 62.1 overs in a recent match, demonstrating both skill and endurance.
Khan’s selection is part of a broader strategy by the BCCI to nurture young talent. Alongside him, Rajasthan left-arm spinner Manav Suthar is also expected to make the cut, with selectors eyeing him as a potential understudy to established players like Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.

“For people on the outside, they don’t understand how a team works and what are the systems in place. In his last three Test matches, KL scored a century in South Africa, one of the best Test knocks in recent times and 86 at Hyderabad in the last Test he played before injury. He was not dropped but got injured. So, he is fit and available, scored a fifty in Duleep, got match time, and he will start,” BCCI source told as per NDTV sports.
