India A took on India D in Match 3 of the Duleep Trophy 2024 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. India D won the toss and opted to bowl. They contained India A to a total of 290 in the first innings and put in just 183 runs in response. India A bounced back in the second innings and posted a humongous target of 383/3 on the board before declaring minutes after Tea on Day 3.
The linchpins behind India A’s lead swell were Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma, as the duo notched up respective tons. While Pratham departed, scoring 122 off 189 deliveries, Tilak remained unbeaten on 111 off 193 balls. He smashed nine boundaries and put up a 104-run stand with Pratham for the second wicket. The southpaw was ably supported by Shashwat Rawat who scored 64* off 88 deliveries, laces with seven boundaries.

As a result, India D have a hard-to-get target of 488 runs in front of them, with Day 4 becoming crucial for them. But India D dealt an early blow in the form of Atharva Taide. Khaleel Ahmed sent the southpaw packing on the first ball of the third over. The onus is now on Shreyas Iyer, Devdutt Padikkal, and Sanju Samson to sail the ship.

India B lose six wickets under 250
in another game, India C batters pitched in at regular intervals as the team posted a huge target of 525 runs in the first innings. Ishan Kishan dazzled with 111 as Indrajith and Manav Suthar contributed 78 and 82 respectively. Trailing the hefty total, India B’s captain, Abhimanyu Easwaran, was the lone man waging the battle as other batters crumbled under pressure.

Easwaran is still batting unbeaten after scoring a century and the other notable contribution came at the end of Narayan Jagadeesan who departed scoring 70 runs.
