The second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 will have the first-round victors take on each other in Match 4 of the tournament, slated to commence on September 12, 2024.
The Rural Development Trust Stadium B, adjacent to where the fixture between India C and India D was played in the first round of the competition will see India B taking on India C in what promises to be a riveting contest.
Both sides have a plethora of individuals who put on promising shows in the first round. Youngsters Musheer Khan and Manav Suthar shone the brightest for India B and India C, respectively. A defiant ton by Sarfaraz’s brother dug out India B from a tough spot and brought them to a respectable score. Meanwhile, the left-arm spin of Suthar limited India D from not getting any substantial lead, as he bagged a seven-for in the third innings.
Out of the two skippers, India B’s Abhimanyu Easwaran would want to buckle up and play the way he has for so many years for Bengal. Although Easwaran’s counterpart Ruturaj Gaikwad came back well with a 46-run knock in the second innings of the previous match, he would want to get on with things and pile up a more weighty score by spending more time at the crease.
With Rinku Singh factored in the group, it remains to be seen how he fares in the red-ball game. Having not made his international debut in the longest format yet, he would want to make a powerful statement to make a case for himself.
