The New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior will host its first international game on October 6 between India and Bangladesh. It was in 2010 when Gwalior hosted its last international game and in that game, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar became the first player to score a double ton in an ODI game.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh players aren’t quite sure how the new stadium and its surface will pan out in the first T20I against India. Speaking about the same, middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy stated he expects the surface to be slow and doesn’t expect a high-scoring contest. He also explained that since no game has ever been hosted in the stadium, it’s difficult for them to conclude.

“T20 is a game of runs, every team want to score runs. But no international match has happened here, it is a new venue. We don’t know what will be the condition. Looking at the practice wicket, I feel it is a slow pitch. In such wickets having a high-scoring game is very less. No IPL match has also happened here,” Hridoy was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Our focus is always on process and how to perform: Hridoy
After losing the two-match Test series, Bangladesh are determined to come back stronger in the T20Is. Hridoy stated that there’s pressure to bounce back but the players are focused on the process and are aiming to perform at the highest of their ability. He also mentioned that the team will miss the service of Shakib Al Hasan, who announced his T20I retirement after the T20 World Cup 2024.
“Pressure is always there, but if we think about that then we will not be able to perform well, our focus is always on process and how to perform. Shakib bhai is not there, we will miss him but everyone has to go one day, we are hopeful we will be able to beat them,” said the 23-year-old.
