The happening world of social media was filled with cheeky cricket banters and beyond on Tuesday, December 17, as many former cricketers, cricket experts and fans alike reacted to Day 4 of the ongoing Brisbane Test being played as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25). The day turned out to be fun-filled yet a nail-biting affair as Team India showed a spirited fightback against Australia after they lost half the side inside 75 runs. Notably, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a gritty 77-run knock after KL Rahul’s Day 3 heroics, which was shortlived on Day 4. Besides them, tailenders Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep stole the show in the final session, where two moments left the whole Indian team and the fans in awe.

While Bumrah hooked a fierce Pat Cummins bouncer out of the park, Akash Deep smacked the Australian Captain for a humongous six, which paved the way for the Indian side to avoid the follow-on situation. This led to the former cricketers Irfan Pathan lauding Jadeja’s presence in the playing XI, while the batting fireworks of Bumrah-Akashdeep left Virat Kohli, Captain Rohit Sharma, and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir in awe of the pace duo for saving the day for Team India. Eventually, this resistance of the duo also impressed the former India spin legend and commentator, Harbhajan Singh.

Meanwhile, in another notable trend across the social media gallery, the New Zealand Test Captain Tim Southee bowed out on a high after clinching a sensational 423-run victory over England. This led to Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Matthews along with the new ICC (International Cricket Council) Chairman, Jay Shah, wishing Southee for his immense contributions to the game of Cricket and a happy future life post-retirement.

Besides, the former Delhi stalwart Mithun Manhas lauded the valiant efforts and progress of the Jammu & Kashmir Women’s cricket team. On the other side, Pakistan all rounder and legend, Shahid Afridi was bestowed with the virtue of becoming a grandfather.
