Cricket West Indies (CWI) have announced the West Indies women’s squad for the India tour. West Indies will tour India for a white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and as many T20I matches in December. Hayley Matthews will be leading the side, with Shemaine Campbelle set to be her deputy. Veteran all-rounder Stafanie Taylor will miss the tour as she continues her rehab following an injury.

Meanwhile, Deandra Dottin will be making her return to the side. Having played her last ODI in March 2022, and after making her T20I comeback two years after announcing international retirement, Dottin will be keen to make an impact.

Head coach Shane Deitz talked about how they have been looking to bring the Women’s Premier League scouts’ attention towards their players, and why the India tour would be a good opportunity.

“We want to get more girls involved with franchise cricket moving forward and looking toward India; it’s always good to play in front of the Indian IPL teams. It is good for our ladies to start getting their names in front of those people, to hopefully open some opportunities in the future,” Deitz was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Deitz also highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum after West Indies made into the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup recently. “We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup into this series. We showed that we can compete against the top teams, which was pleasing.”

Both sides will kick off the series with the T20Is, all of which will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on December 15, 17 and 19. The three ODIs will be on December 22, 24, and 27 at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara.
