The exciting Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) might be in its early days, but fans have already witnessed a thrilling game that took place in Visakhapatnam between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Both teams put up a great fight, but it was finally the Capitals who scraped through to a one-wicket win at the end of the match.

This was a high-scoring game where over 400 runs were scored, and there were some big hits throughout. The two batters who provided the most entertainment were Delhi’s Ashutosh Sharma and Lucknow’s Nicholas Pooran, who put pressure on the bowlers with their ruthless ball-striking.

It was Ashutosh Sharma who emerged as the match-winner for the Capitals, scoring an unbeaten 66 off 31 deliveries, but the innings from Nicholas Pooran cannot be ignored, as his 75 runs off just 30 deliveries helped LSG reach a 200+ total. It is time to discuss which knock was the best among the two.

Here are the criteria for comparing the two knocks witnessed in the last match:

1. Strike Rate

The strike rate of a batter plays a big role in T20 cricket, and it is safe to say that both batters aced this category. Both Ashutosh Sharma and Nicholas Pooran had a strike rate above 200 in their innings. Sharma struck at 212.90, while Pooran was striking at 250. Though Sharma’s strike rate was slightly lower since he took a bit of time at the start, it does not change the fact that his innings made a significant difference in the end.

2. Range of Shots

There is no doubt that both these batters are phenomenal ball strikers, but along with that ability, their range of shots makes them even more dangerous. Though Ashutosh Sharma was incredible with his slogs in the mid-wicket region and shots down the ground, when it comes to the range of shots, Pooran was slightly better, as he also hit some phenomenal shots square of the wicket and over cover.

3. Impact

It is also important for an innings to have a huge impact on the team’s chances of winning. Though Pooran’s innings were phenomenal and helped LSG put up a huge total, in terms of impact, it was the Capitals’ impact player, Ashutosh, who takes the point in this category. Ashutosh came in at a tough position when the match looked done and dusted for his team and not only got them back in the game but also finished the innings successfully.
