Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, who would soon be captaining last year’s runners’ up Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL, took to Twitter to share with fans one of his biggest moments. The Kerala-cricketer shared a photo with superstar Rajinikanth and opened up on his long-standing wish to meet the actor once.
Sanju revealed that he had been a fan of the Thalaivar since the age of 7 and had always wanted to meet him. As a child, he said that he used to tell his parents that one day he would go and meet the superstar in his residence. Finally, as it happened on March 12, 2023, Sanju reminisced the old memories and said that the day finally came after 21 years.
Samson had earlier revealed his Rajinikanth fandom in an interview with ‘The Indian Express’ where, when asked about how he was spending his lockdown days, Samson had replied that apart from meditating and reading Steve Waugh’s book, he had been watching a lot of Rajinikanth movies and Malayalam movies which were his favourites.
Rajasthan Royals to kickstart IPL 2023 campaign on April 2
Sanju Samson will lead Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL in which, Royals will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 2 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Last year’s runners’ up, Rajasthan Royals boasts of a strong squad which includes the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Trent Boult, R. Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. They also signed revered names of world cricket like Joe Root and Jason Holder at the latest auctions held in Kochi.
Ahead of the tournament, the team had set up a preliminary training camp at Guwahati’s ACA Stadium, which will also serve as Rajasthan’s second home ground in the upcoming IPL, after Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Royals will play their first two home matches in Guwahati before moving to Jaipur for the remainder of their home fixtures. Rajasthan will lock horns with Punjab Kings on April 5 and take up the Delhi challenge on April 8 in the Guwahati-leg of their home matches.
