Australian opener David Warner is one of the greatest all-format players of the sport. His iconic performances in the Indian Premier League have been cherished by his fans all around the world. He is amongst the best overseas players to have taken part in the richest franchise league. The New South Wales cricketer is the highest run-scorer amongst overseas players in the league, and third-highest overall, making one of the most sought after batters.

The southpaw is currently playing for Delhi Capitals and has started the 2024 campaign on a positive note. Even though he could not make a big score in his side’s opening game of the season against Punjab Kings, he was still able to give a great start for a good total. He scored 29 runs from 21 balls and the knock included 3 fours and two sixes.

The Australian would be seen in action next during the Capitals’ away game against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He would be hoping for a much better-performance against the 2008 champions and would back himself to win the game for his side. Ahead of this epic clash, let’s dive into David Warner’s amazing statistics against Rajasthan Royals in IPL history.

This statistics shows the class and consistency of David Warner as he is one of only nine players to have registered in excess of 350 runs against RR. The opener is also just the third overseas player after AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle to do so. He would be looking to climb up the pecking order in this list with a positive performance in the upcoming tie.

His most iconic innings against Rajasthan Royals came during the 2013 edition of the tournament. In Delhi, Warner was chasing down the tricky 166-run target set up by the opposition. His 77-run knock brought his team close to the total, but was unable to see the side through. He was unlucky to have been run-out by the opposition, otherwise, the outcome of the game could have been different.

Rajasthan Royals have some of the best bowlers in their team, and they dictate the terms of the match most of the time. Their spin unit is currently one of the best in the league, with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in their ranks. The spin duo has the ability to turn the match with their brilliant variations and deceive the batters with dynamic line and lengths.

But against David Warner that may not be as useful as the batter has had a good record against the spin twins. Warner has been dismissed only five times in 201 deliveries of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin combined. The left-handed batter would be looking to capitalize on this mental victory when he comes up against Yuzi and Ash in the next encounter.

The 37-year-old is known to be one of the best fielders and is one of the safest contenders to field at any position across the outfield, and batters usually do not take the risk of taking him on. He has taken 11 catches and been involved in 2 run-outs against Rajasthan Royals. This shows how useful he can be in the outfield for his side, as he keeps the batter in check all the time.

The Australia national is known to be fielding outside the 30-yard circle but is also recognized to be one of the best slip fielders of the current generation. The senior batter would be hoping to add more catches and run-outs to his tally when he faces the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur.
