Star Australia batter David Warner survived a close call during Match 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, October 25 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Batting on 73, the Australian opener hit a low full toss in the 23rd over of the innings, straight to Roelof van der Merwe at short cover. The Dutch cricketer completed a brilliant take diving to his right and claimed the catch.

However, Warner was confident that Van der Merwe had grounded it and gestured with his hands. The replays confirmed that the catch wasn’t clean and Warner survived. The southpaw even pated Van der Merwe on the back for his sensational effort after he was ruled not out by the third umpire.
