Devon Conway’s knock of 92* went in vain as a valuable innings from Liam Livingstone (40) and  Prabhsimran Singh (42) helped Punjab Kings in defeating Chennai Super Kings by a margin of four wickets in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League 2023 in Chennai.

MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. CSK got off to a good start as Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 86 runs for the first wicket. Sikandar Raza drew the first blood for Punjab Kings. Shivam Dube and Devon Conway kept the scoreboard ticking by adding valuable 44 runs for the second wicket. 

Arshdeep Singh broke the second wicket partnership by sending Shivam Dube back after he got 28 off 17. Meanwhile, Devon Conway (92 0ff 52) reached his fifth fifty in IPL 2023 and remained unbeaten. Little cameos from Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni helped CSK post a huge total of 200 in 20 overs. 

In response to 200, PBKS got off to a brisk start in the powerplay as Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh added 50 runs in 4.2 overs, but Tushar Deshpande drew the first blood for CSK as Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring 28. Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide kept ticking the scoreboard by adding 30 runs for the second wicket.

Soon Ravindra Jadeja broke the second partnership by sending back Prabhsimran Singh and Jadeja struck once again in the 11th over sending back Atharva Taide. Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran kept the scoreboard ticking by adding valuable 57 runs for the fourth wicket. 

Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran lost their wickets back to back. A valuable knock from Jitesh Sharma (21 off 10) and Sikandar Raza (13 off 7) in death overs helped Punjab Kings chase 201 in 20 Overs.

5063 – Devon Conway completed 5000 T20 runs and became the sixth New Zealand player to achieve this feat 

144 – Devon Conway became the third-joint fastest player to complete 5000 runs in 144 innings along with Shaun Marsh. Chris Gayle tops the list (132 inns).

6506 – Shikhar Dhawan completed 6500 runs in the IPL.

100 – Rahul Chahar made his 100th appearance in T20s.

50Prabhsimran Singh appeared in his 50th T20 game. 

2000 – Sam Curran completed 2000 T20 runs. 

62 – Punjab Kings registered their second-highest powerplay score in IPL 2023, their highest powerplay score (63) came against LSG.

264 – Shivam Dube has smashed 264 runs in eight innings in the ongoing season and averages 33 at a strike rate of 158.08.

92* – Devon Conway registered his highest score in IPL. His previous highest score was 87 and it had come against Delhi Capitals in 2022.

44.41 – Devon Conway has the highest batting average in T20 cricket with a minimum of 5000 runs scored.
