CSK vs MI: IPL 2023 Records & Stats at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

Mumbai Indians will fly to Chennai, as they face their Arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings for the second time in match number 49 of Indian Premier League 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, on Saturday, May 6.

Mumbai Indians will be coming into the contest after two consecutive record chases against Rajasthan Royals at Mumbai and Punjab Kings at Mohali. With five wins in nine games, they are placed in the sixth position of the IPL points table, courtesy of a poor run rate.

Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, will be heading into the game, after a rain-marred game at Lucknow, ending in a wash-out, they lost their previous game against Punjab Kings, failing to defend 200 at home. Piyush Chawla holds the key as far as bowling is concerned with 15 wickets in nine games while other bowlers did not have a good outing so far. The last few games witnessed vintage Suryakumar Yadav’s masterclass, as he smashed back-to-back half-centuries to get back his form after a series of failures. MI would look to carry the winning run going.

For CSK, Devon Conway has been in such sublime form, as he has so far aggregated 414 runs in nine innings at a phenomenal average of 59.14 and he has also smashed five half-centuries of which four came on consecutive occasions, Ruturaj Gaikwad too is among the runs, scoring 354 runs at an average of 44.25. In the bowling department, Tushar Deshpande has picked up 17 wickets in 10 games and he currently holds the Purple Cap, while Ravindra Jadeja has managed to pick 14 wickets. CSK has performed well as a unit in this tournament and they are one of the contenders to cement a place in the playoffs. CSK will look to bounce back the winning ways after the shocking home loss.
