Cricket is one of the most popular sports in England and the English cricket team has achieved immense success in this sport in the last two decades. In 2010, the English team won their first International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy, winning the 2010 T20 World Cup. Their biggest achievement came in 2019 as they clinched their maiden World Cup title under Eoin Morgan.

These massive successes exhibit that England players are striving their best to elevate the popularity of cricket in their country with their performances. Besides cricket, there are also some events to recall when English cricketers were seen promoting Baseball. Revisiting those incidents, let’s talk about five English players who attended baseball events.

Here are five English players who were seen in baseball jerseys:

England’s young batter Harry Brook has done a phenomenal job with his bat in his two-year international career. Noting his extraordinary talent, cricket analysts are considering the 24-year-old to become a huge batting icon for England in international cricket in the future.

In March 2023, Brook was in Florida and he was seen training with the Cardinals who were preparing for their Major League Baseball (MLB) game. During the training, the England stalwart was also seen with a baseball bat. Currently, Brook is also an ambassador of MLB.

4. Alex Hales

Top-order batter Alex Hales served England from 2011-22 and during these years, he scored more than 5000 runs in 156 international games played across all formats. In the English side’s 2022 T20 World Cup win, he played a pivotal role with his opening batting. Following the marquee T20 International (T20I) event in 2022, he retired from international cricket but he is still active in league cricket.

Back in 2017, when MLB hosted its first-ever Home Run Derby in Britain, Hales was seen donning an LA Dodgers jersey.  The event was held in London’s iconic venue Hyde Park and Hales was seen hitting some spectacular shots with a baseball bat.

3. Jos Buttler

At MLB’s first event in London, England’s wicketkeeper batter and current white-ball skipper Jos Buttler was also seen hitting some fabulous strokes with a baseball bat. The star England player played for the Boston Red Sox in the competition. Along with Hales, Buttler made the maiden MLB event on British soil scintillating with his presence.

Both Buttler and Hales made their international debuts for England in 2011. The latter bid adieu to international cricket in August 2023 while the former is still active in the business and has been serving his national side as a skipper in white-ball formats since 2022.

2. Stuart Broad

Stuart Broad played for England for 17 years from 2006 to 2023. The speedster called his time on his international career after the Ashes 2023. In his vast international career, he showed up in 344 international matches and took 847 wickets. He is the second-highest wicket-taker for England in Tests, with 604 scalps in 309 innings in 167 matches.

After his retirement, Broad has tried his hand at baseball with the guidance of the MLB legend Chase Utley. The English legend dropped a clip on a social media site that showed him in a Philadelphia Phillies shirt and receiving training from the veteran Utley.

The star England paceman has grabbed 690 Test wickets with the ball and is the third-leading wicket-taker in the format.

In June 2023, Anderson and Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon attended an MLB game in London before the second 2023 Ashes Test at Lord’s. Both cricketing legends threw the first pitch before the baseball match. The English player sported Chicago Cubs colours while the Aussie spin wizard was donning St Louis Cardinals shirt.
