The Cricket West Indies (CWI) governance reforms stalled as the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) representatives did not attend the board meeting for the discussion of the Wehby Report to improve governance. The problems in the board continue with disagreements from other members of different organizations.

There is no doubt that there have to be some reforms made in Cricket West Indies (CWI) so that the board can govern smoothly and this is also the reason why they came up with the Wehby Report which has created a huge debate with a few representatives not turning up as they do not agree with the terms of the report. GCB president Bisoondyal Singh has also made a clear statement, disagreeing with the reforms.

“We maintain our stated position that the proposed amendments are self-serving and cannot and will not change the many issues affecting West Indies cricket both administratively and on the field of play,” said Singh in an interview with Cricbuzz.

It looks like there are still a lot of problems being created for the CWI with a lot of disagreements from the other members. Even CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow reflected on this move by the GCB and the BCA.

“It is deeply disappointing that representatives from Guyana and Barbados did not see the importance of being present at this crucial juncture for the future of West Indies cricket. Governance reform is critical to ensuring our organization’s growth, sustainability, and ability to inspire pride across the region,“ said Shallow.
