Corbin Bosch breaks his silence on withdrawal from Pakistan Super League to join Mumbai Indians

Corbin Bosch breaks his silence on withdrawal from Pakistan Super League to join Mumbai Indians

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch got into trouble with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after withdrawing from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and choosing to represent the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025. The 30-year-old has recently his sudden withdrawal from the tournament which also led to the PCB issuing a legal notice on him.

Corbin Bosch who is one of the upcoming pace bowling all-rounders for the Proteas was named as the replacement for Lizaad Williams in the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of IPL 2025. However, the PCB wanted answers from Bosch who was also set to play for the Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. The all-rounder has finally given the reason to the PCB behind withdrawing from the league in a report by Cricket Pakistan where he said that he wanted to prioritize his future and play for a more successful side like the Mumbai Indians.

“Bosch provided his explanation to Pakistani officials, stating that his decision was not meant to disrespect PSL. He said he had to prioritize his future, as Mumbai Indians are not only a strong IPL team but also have franchises in multiple other leagues, which could benefit his career significantly,” the report read.

Bosch to be banned from PSL?

The report also mentioned that the officials are discussing the future of Bosch for this move as well. It turns out that some officials are considering banning him from the next few seasons of the PSL but some are still thinking against this proposition since it could affect the participation of other players as well.

“Some quarters argue that the league’s credibility is paramount and that Bosch should be banned from future PSL editions as a deterrent for others. However, others believe that imposing a ban might send a negative message to other players. Instead, they suggest a symbolic penalty to resolve the matter. The PCB is expected to make a decision in the coming days,” the report added.
