Chris Gayle surprises fans at gas station in Jamaica, pays their bills in heartwarming gesture

Chris Gayle is one of the most popular and revered cricketers of all time. The cricket fraternity adores him not just for the surreal entertainment he has provided over the years with his willow but also for his jovial nature.

Recently, a video on social media involving the legendary opening batter has been receiving a lot of love from the fans. In the video, the 44-year-old can be seen strolling through a gas station in Portmore, Jamaica, paying for people who came to refill their cars.

“It’s your lucky day. Your gas is on me today, all right?” Gayle can be heard saying in the video. He also shook hands with his fans and took selfies. This kind gesture from the stalwart has received a lot of plaudits from fans and shows why he is such a beloved personality in the cricket world.

Gayle has represented the West Indies in 103 Test matches, 301 ODIs, and 79 T20Is. He amassed 7,215 runs in Tests, 10,480 in ODIs, and 1,899 in T20Is. He might be known for his power-hitting, but his Test average of 42.19 gives an account of his versatility. Gayle also has a highest score of 333 in Test cricket and is also the only West Indies batter to score a double century in ODI cricket.

The Kingston-born is also an Indian Premier League (IPL) legend. In 142 IPL games, he has scored 4,955 runs at an average of 39.72 and a strike rate of 148.96. Most of his runs and records in the cash-rich league came during his tenure with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2011 to 2017.

He played in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 in November-December and finished as the fourth-highest run-getter in the tournament. The southpaw scored 203 runs in four innings at an average of 50.75. Gayle’s last appearance for the West Indies came in November 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi in a T20 World Cup fixture.
