Brisbane Heat batter Josh Brown has been signed by the Chattogram Challengers to play in the Bangladesh Premier League. The franchise shared the news with their fans on Wednesday, January 24 and revealed that the 30-year-old will join the squad on January 26, in time for their matches in Sylhet. The Challengers have got off to a good start in the tournament having won two out of their three matches in the season so far beating Sylhet Strikers and Durdanto Dhaka.
Notably, Brown shattered record books during the Challenger game of the Big Bash League 2023-24 against Adelaide Strikers as he played a breathtaking innings of 140 (57) clobbering ten fours and 12 sixes (the most in a single innings in BBL). He also registered the second-fastest hundred in BBL history off just 41 balls.
Brown further starred in the final scoring a brilliant half-century (53 off 38) helping his side score 166/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The total eventually turned out to be enough for Brisbane as they beat Sydney Sixers by 54 runs to clinch their second BBL title.

According to a report in AAP, Brown’s management had got offers from BPL and ILT20 ahead of the BBL final and the cricketer expressed his interest in the deals.
“Absolutely, I’d be interested. If the opportunity came up I’d take it with both hands. I’ve just got to keep scoring runs,” Brown was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
Chattogram Challengers also sign Phil Salt
Brown’s signing comes after Mohammad Haris pulled out of the BPL after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) denied him an NOC. Meanwhile, apart from Brown, Chattogram have also signed swashbuckling England batter Phil Salt who will join the squad after his commitments in SA20 and ILT20.
