International Cricket Council (ICC), on Friday, December 13, has finalized the hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament, originally slated to be hosted entirely in Pakistan, will now see India games being scheduled in Dubai, UAE.
The decision comes right after an agreement was signed between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over hosting the eight-team event with a hybrid model. The acceptance of the model comes finally after a long series of scheduled meets of the ICC, and the concerned cricketing boards, were postponed.
However, after Jay Shah took over the ICC chairman’s position, the decision has been fast-tracked, for the tournament which is slated to be held in February-March 2025. It has also come to notice that the PCB won’t receive any additional compensation for losing out on the exclusive hosting rights for the marquee event. Instead, Pakistan will host an ICC Women’s event after the current FTP (Future Tours Programme) cycle of 2027 ends.

It is noteworthy to mention that BCCI had followed the Indian government’s directives to not travel to the neighbouring nation following the geopolitical tensions between the arch-rivals.
