India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has responded furiously to Baba Indrajith’s exclusion from South Zone’s side for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. Karthik expressed bewilderment at the selection committee’s decision and has sought clarification on what led to Indrajith’s non-selection. Despite being one of the finest batters in India’s domestic circuit in recent times, Indrajit hasn’t been picked for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy.
The upcoming edition of the Duleep Trophy will be organised in Bengaluru starting June 28. Six teams from India’s diverse regions—North, South, East, West, Central, and North East will compete in the tournament.
On Tuesday, June 13, all the South Zone associations’ selectors met to decide on the South Zone side for the Duleep Trophy 2023. The roster featured several renowned domestic talents like KS Bharat, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, and Tilak Varma. Hanuma Vihari and Mayank Agarwal were selected as the team’s captain and vice-captain, respectively.
I don’t understand selection committee these days: Karthik
Dinesh Karthik showed dissatisfaction concerning Baba Indrajith’s ouster from the line-up and asked the selection committee behind his non-selection. “I don’t understand selection committee these days. Baba Indrajith plays for the Rest of India against MP in the first week of March 2023. There has been no first class matches post that, but he doesn’t feature for South Zone in the Duleep trophy. Can someone tell me why??,” Karthik tweeted.
