All-rounder Cameron Green looked below average in the first half of the IPL 2024 but things changed when he was slotted in the middle order as the tournament progressed. He also made a significant contribution with the ball towards the fag end of the campaign and that might just help him find a spot in the Australia playing XI in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
The 2021 champions will begin their campaign against Oman on June 5. Ahead of that, skipper Mitchell Marsh has already confirmed that he isn’t fit enough to bowl at the moment and that leaves the door open for Green. Even though Australia have plenty of options to choose from, Green keeps himself ahead in the race as he is ready to plug holes in the mega tournament.

“That’s the beauty of what I’ve been exposed to in the last few years. It’s not always been a consistent spot that I’ve locked into. But at the same time, I’m also thankful for that. I feel like I can jump in at many different roles. I think that’s where I see myself this tournament, maybe plugging holes in the team,” Green was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
I feel really well placed: Pat Cummins
Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins was in terrific form in IPL 2024. Under his leadership, Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified for the final but eventually suffered a loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. Nevertheless, Cummins was happy with his progress as a T20 bowler and feels that he is well-placed ahead of the global tournament.

“We played 17 games straight (at the IPL). For the most part, international T20s are after the test series, and you’ve got to try and hit a yorker or a slower ball, and then go back to a test series. So just getting the pace of the game and executing some of those balls that you need more in T20 cricket than in other formats, I feel really well placed,” Cummins told CA.
