Both were in same U-19 WC team, now where is Shaw and where is Gill?: Karsan Ghavri

Former India pacer Karsan Ghavri passed quite a few stunning remarks on Delhi Capitals batter Prithvi Shaw following his disastrous run in the IPL 2023. Ghavri drew parallels with Shubman Gill, who has been at the top of his game for the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the 16th edition.

Notably, Shaw concluded the season with a meagre 106 runs in eight appearances, whereas Gill, on the other hand, has been at his lethal best, accumulating 851 runs, featuring four half-centuries and three tons. On that note, former pacer Ghavri slammed Shaw for his approach and stated that Gill has worked on his flaws while the former has not.

“They were in the same team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018, right? Today where is Prithvi Shaw, and where is Shubman Gill? They are in two different categories. You need to constantly work on yourself. You are required to occupy the crease, and if you do that, you are bound to get more runs,” Ghavri told Indian Express.

“They are of the same age. Nothing has been lost yet. Gill has worked on his flaws, while Shaw hasn’t. He still can. He needs to work hard; otherwise, there is no point in having so much potential,” he added.

Shaw thinks he is a star: Ghavri

Shaw has faced a lot of flak for his dismal run in the IPL 2023 from fans and members of the cricketing fraternity. The former pacer further added that the DC batter will need to maintain discipline in order to up the ante and play at the international level.

“Shaw thinks he is a star and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over or the Test match or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out. You require discipline and a good temperament,” he added.
