Glenn Phillips plucked a fierce shot struck by Virat Kohli out of thin air to have the latter depart to the pavilion with an unbelievable flying catch. The moment happened when Kohli was batting on 11 in his 300th ODI game, which is currently ongoing between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
The stupendous take by Phillips got the cricketing fraternity to go gaga over it, and the fans and experts alive seemed to be amazed with the acrobatic abilities of the New Zealand all-rounder.
While a few called it as one of the best catches of the tournament, commentator Harbhajan Singh went one step ahead to tout Phillips’ catch to be better than Jonty Rhodes’ highly popular catch during the ODI World Cup in 1992.
“There is a famous photograph of Jonty Rhodes in which he is seen taking a one-handed catch by flying in the air. I feel that what we saw from Glenn Phillips is better than Jonty Rhodes’ attempt,” Harbhajan Singh said on air via Star Sports.
