After a long wait, Bengal is set to have a proper franchise league – the Bengal Pro T20 League, where eight men’s teams and as many women’s teams compete in two separate tournaments that run simultaneously. The enthralling action from the City of Joy commences on Tuesday, June 11.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to make the inaugural edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League a grand affair. Apart from the glitz and glamour, the cricket governing body hasn’t forgotten to pay homage to two of their most precious gems – Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami, who went on to become icons of Indian cricket.
In the women’s matches, there will be a Toss Coin with the ‘Heads’ side consisting of the face of Women’s cricket legend Goswami. Similarly, the men’s tournament will see the ‘Heads’ side featuring the face of Ganguly.
Bengal Pro T20 League revealed the special Toss coins recently to honour the two legends of Bengal and Indian cricket. Both Goswami and Ganguly are expected to be present on Tuesday as the tournament gets underway. The former also took to social media and thanked the CAB for the tribute.
“What a privilege to be a part of something so meaningful. Thank you, @bengalprot20league @cabcricket, for this heartfelt recognition on the toss coin. Let’s make the most out of this amazing tournament,” she wrote on her official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle.

Meanwhile, the women’s tournament will begin on Wednesday, June 13, at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus Ground.
These tournaments will provide the players from Bengal with a great platform to showcase their skills in front of a larger audience. The league concludes on June 28.
