The Board of Control for Cricket in India, on Monday, May 13, invited applications for the position of head coach for the senior men’s cricket team. Interested candidates may apply for the position on or before May 27, 2024 by 6 pm IST to be considered for the position.
This move comes amidst the upcoming end of Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of the Men in Blue. Notably, Dravid will culminate his service post the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024. The newly appointed head coach will then assume the chair starting July 01, 2024, and will continue to hold such position for a period of three and a half years, ending December 31, 2027.
According to a recent release by the board, the process for selecting the applicants will be done through a comprehensive study of the applications received, which will be followed by in-person interviews and further examination for confirming the fitness of the applicant for the said position.
Although Rahul Dravid has the power or the rights to reapply for the position, recent reports had revealed that the former cricketer is unlikely to hold the position again, and thus, the Indian team is likely to have a new face as their head coach.
