BCB, Emirates Cricket Board hold meet to discuss preparations for Women's T20 World Cup 2024

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials, on September 4, met their counterparts at Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to hold talks over the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 that was shifted from Bangladesh to UAE. The International Cricket Council (ICC) after thorough vetting, shifted the event from Bangladesh as the country was embroiled in political protests causing loss of life as well as public property.

The BCB remains the designated host of the 17-day long event though. Notably, Dubai and Sharjah will play on a grand stage for the global cricketing tussle now. The BCB president Faruque Ahmed and CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury held a meeting with ECB chief Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan along with other ECB officials in Abu Dhabi. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice was also present at the meeting.

“We are delighted to stage the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. The Emirates Cricket Board has time and again proved its hosting capabilities and we are once again ready to deliver a world-class event. I want to thank the International Cricket Council and the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their trust and confidence in us,” said Mabarak Al Nahyan as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We look forward to welcoming all participants and providing top-class cricketing facilities over the course of the tournament which would see the best in the women’s game competing for the ultimate glory in the T20 format,” he added.
