The whole world knows about the infamous Angelo Mathews and Shakib Al Hasan incident. Mathews was given timed out during the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh. Mathews got into a heated debate with the umpires and cited a broken helmet being the reason for his late arrival at the crease. There has been a rivalry simmering between the fans of the two nations over the issue.
As ironical as it gets, the two countries collided once again on the cricketing pitch for the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. The series was levelled before the decider was played in Chattogram. Bangladesh emerged victorious and Mushfiqur Rahim did not hesitate to take a dig at Sri Lankans. During the winner’s pose, he took helmet and imitated Mathews’ ordeal during the World Cup game.
Here’s the video of Mushfiqur Rahim imitating Mathews:

The time-out sign is been extensively used to take a dig at each since the incident. In the same World Cup game, Mathews exacted revenge as he dismissed Bangladesh skipper Shakib and showed a time-out sign. However, the story did not cede on the field, as the former Sri Lankan skipper took to social media and shared video evidence of him arriving on time at the crease.
