Afghanistan will tour Bangladesh to play one Test, three ODIs and two T20Is in June 2023, however, the venues for the series are yet to be decided. The series will reportedly be played in two phases as Afghanistan will leave for a white-ball series in India during Eid ul Adha after playing the one-off Test against Bangladesh.

After the completion of the series against India, they will be returning back to Bangladesh to play ODIs and T20Is. BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus had said that the venues for the series will be finalized in the coming days.

“Since we have rescheduled from earlier, we will finalise in a day or two where the venues will be. It was planned earlier that they would play one of the formats and then head back to India. Afghanistan will return back from India and play the rest of the series,” BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

There was a delay in confirming Afghanistan’s white-ball tour of India and since the series will be played during the Eid vacations, the BCB happily accepted Afghanistan’s request.

“They were not supposed to stay during Eid anyway. They were excited about the India series but it wasn’t getting confirmed. Once it was confirmed, Afghanistan requested that they wanted to go and play India after playing one of the formats. We accepted it since it’s vacation time here too,” Jalal had told travelling media at Chelmsford in UK on Thursday.

Earlier, Afghanistan and Bangladesh were scheduled to play two Tests and three T20Is along with the three ODIs. However, one of the Tests was scrapped earlier and now one T20I has also been scrapped.

The first ODI between Ireland and Bangladesh got washed out

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are currently playing a three-match ODI series against Ireland in England. All three matches of the series will be played at the County Ground in Chelmsford. The first ODI of the series ended in no result due to rain while Bangladesh have chosen to bowl first in the second ODI.

Ireland were 64/2 after 17 overs with Harry Tector (29* off 39) and Andrew Balbirnie (22* off 40) at the crease.
