Bangladesh absolutely thrashed Ireland on Thursday, March 23 to register their maiden 10-wicket victory in One Day Internationals. Notably, the Andrew Balbirne-led side absolutely failed to establish themselves at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium as Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud dominated the Irish side, picking up a brilliant five-for.

Now, after opting to bat first, Ireland lost four quick wickets of Stephen Doheny, Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirne, and Harry Tector. They were 26 for four as nothing was going in their favor. However, stumper-batter Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher tried to stabilize the situation but unfortunately, neither of them could take the game to the next stage.

Tucker got dismissed while batting on 28 while Hasan Mahmud dismissed Campher on 36. After this, the lower middle order fell like a pack of cards as the visiting side could post only 101 runs after the first innings.

Coming to the chase, the Bangla Tigers faced no problem whatsoever. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das looked rock solid as the duo managed to chase the target down in just 13.1 overs. Litton meanwhile, smashed a half-century, scoring 50* off 38 deliveries while Iqbal remained not out on 41* off 41 deliveries.

With that, Bangladesh once again managed to win another ODI series at home. They have now won 13 out of 15 home series they have played in this format since the ODI World Cup 2015 and that speaks their strength in home conditions. They have defeated teams like India, Pakistan, and South Africa among many others during this time and thus, it can be said that they are preparing well ahead of the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

Now, courtesy of his brilliant performance with the ball, Hasan Mahmud was adjudged Player of the Match while Mushfiqur Rahim, for his brilliant century in the second ODI was chosen as the Player of the Series. Next up, the two nations will play a three-match T20I series, which is slated to begin on March 27 at Chattogram.
