Even though Bangladesh failed to register a win in the first ODI of the series, they were rather impressive on the field. Batting first, the Tamim Iqbal-led side could post only 209 runs on board but with the ball, they tried to take on the opposition and were smelling victory at one point of the game but eventually, couldn’t emerge victorious.
Taijul Islam was brilliant with his line and length, which kept the Three Lions under pressure for quite some time but nothing could stop Dawid Malan from establishing his authority as the 35-year-old hit a sensational century, which completely ruled Bangladesh out of the contest.
Now, in the second match, Bangladesh first would hope to get better with the bat and the pacers would want to do more damage in the initial overs as well. England were brilliant with the ball throughout as only Najmul Hossain Shanto was able to do some damage in the middle. Senior players like Shakib Al Hasan and skipper Tamim Iqbal need to take more responsibility in the next match, otherwise, Bangladesh may end up losing the ODI series on Friday itself.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium supported the bowlers in the previous match and it is unlikely to change. The team winning the toss is expected to bat first as the pitch might get slower towards the fag-end of the day.
Probable Playing XI for BAN vs ENG
Bangladesh
Youngster Towhid Hridoy was sensational in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and thus, Bangladesh might consider him giving a shot but given that only one match has been played so far, it is unlikely that the think tank will make any changes to the playing XI.
Probable XI: Tamim Iqbal (c), Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman
England
England are likely to play with the same XI as well.
Probable XI: Jason Roy, Philip Salt, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Jos Buttler (wk/c), Will Jacks, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood
