After a horrid start to the Women’s Ashes 2023, where England lost the only Test and the first T20I of the series, Heather Knight-led England scripted a remarkable comeback as they won the second and third T20I of the series and won it 2-1.

Talking about the third T20I of the series, Australia batted first and notched up 155 runs on the board for the hosts to chase. As rain disrupted play, the game was shortened quite a bit, and as the DLS method came into play, England went on to win the fixture by five wickets.

Following their T20I series win, English skipper Heather Knight has come forward to give her take on the performances of both sides. She opined that Australia’s total in the first innings was not adequate. Furthermore, she also stated that her side’s performance in the field was one of the worst ones she has witnessed.

“We talked about winning the series yesterday and it feels good to do it today. The pitch was different to what we thought. Usually spin dominates but it was seam today. Have a lot of belief in the side, I thought Australia’s score was below par, it was a decent deck,” Heather Knight said in the post-match press conference.

“I think that was probably our worst fielding performance. Credit to the way we went about the target. On different days, different people are performing. Really appreciate the support from the crowd. Still, a long way to go. One game at a time,” she added.

England gear up for forthcoming ODI series

Following the end of the T20I series, the Women’s Ashes 2023 will continue with a three-match ODI series. The first ODI of which will be played at Gloucestershire Cricket Stadium in Bristol on Wednesday, July 12.

After winning the T20I series, England will be keen on putting in similar performances in the ODI series as well. With the Women’s Ashes 2023 hanging in the balance, it would be interesting to see which side comes out on top.
