Australian cricketer Will Pucovski could potentially end his career due to medical reasons. The batter has been marred with a series of head injuries and the latest came in March proving the final nail in the coffin. The blow on the helmet in March 2024 was the 13th bang Pucovski received making the developments even more peculiar.

Moreover, a medical panel in 2022 pointed out that the concussions batter was undergoing were not true to the blows on the helmet. The panel furthered that it was related to stress or trauma responses. The Australian batter was inducted into the Test Squad in January 2019 and has played his only Test against India at the SCG.

According to 9News Melbourne, the youngster has decided to put a full stop to his short-lived career over a recommendation from a panel of medical experts.

“My understanding is that an independent panel of experts recommended Pucovski retire three months ago, and all that’s left is for Cricket Victoria and his team to formalise that contractually,” said Morris, representing Nine News.

“The news doesn’t come as a surprise to teammates of Pucovski who haven’t seen him at training all pre-season, in fact he’s been travelling overseas,” he added.

To make things worse, the 26-year-old was not spared by fate in his debut match. This time it was not a short ball thumping him on the helmet, it was a shoulder injury that kept him away from the game for six months. In his debut game, he opened the batting alongside David Warner and scored 62 and 10 in both innings respectively.
