To guarantee their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, India will have to beat Australia 4-0 in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, slated to begin on November 22. The visitors have had the upper hand on Australia in the last decade but currently, they are under tremendous pressure, having lost 3-0 to New Zealand at home. It has complicated their road to the WTC final but the Rohit Sharma-led side is confident of getting things done in Down Under.
The team reached Australia in two batches as the training camp started on November 12. However, due to travel, not all the players were available on the first day. On November 13, they had a full training session at WACA as BCCI shared a video highlight of their practice. In the video, assistant coach Abhishek Nayar shared that Gautam Gambhir and the senior players had a chat with all the players and he understands the challenge that awaits.
Nayar added that the players grow tremendously and become better cricketers after a series in Australia. He expects the youngsters of the team to learn about the game in the next couple of games and make a mark by the end of the tour.

“It’s one of the toughest challenges for an Indian cricketer, coming here and overcoming it. I think Gauti Bhai (Gautam Gambhir) had a chat with the boys just before we started here. Some of the senior boys as well such as Booms (Jasprit Bumrah), Virat, Ash (Ashwin) all having you know chat with the guys, how first they came here as youngsters with a lot of seniors around,” Nayar said in the video.
“And how they sort of felt that once you finish the Australia series, you go back as a better cricketer. I think a lot of the young boys are really keen raring to go and hopefully make a name for themselves by the end of this tour,” he added.
