Five-time winners Australia and 1996 champions Sri Lanka square off against each other in match No. 14 of the ongoing sixteenth edition of the World Cup. The encounter is all set to take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Pat Cummins and his Australian side have made a surprising and poor start to their campaign. The most successful team in the history of the competition has lost both of their opening matches. The Kangaroos faced a loss by a six-wicket margin against the host nation, India, in their opener in Chennai. In their second fixture, they suffered a heavy defeat by a margin of 134 runs against South Africa in Lucknow.

The Lankan Lions have had the same fate so far, as they lost their opening game against the Proteas in Delhi. Sri Lanka failed to bag their first win of the ongoing WC against Pakistan as they lost two in two. To make matters worse, their captain, Dasun Shanaka, has been ruled out of the entire campaign due to injury. Both teams will look to finally get off the mark and register their maiden win. Below are the details of the Head-to-Head records between these two in all formats.
