AUS vs WI: Glenn Maxwell smashes 109 metres six at Adelaide Oval

In the second T20I of the series against West Indies at Adelaide Oval, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell smashed a massive 109-metre six off Alzarri Joseph. The 35-year-old didn’t move an inch as his eyes lit up seeing the ball in his arc and launched it over the deep mid-wicket boundary with a mighty heave. The fielders turned into spectators as the ball went to the second deck.

However, it was only the start of his blistering knock. Courtesy of his 12 boundaries and eight sixes in the middle, Maxwell managed to hit 120* runs off just 55 deliveries at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 218.18. Mitchell Marsh and Tim David made 29 runs off 12 deliveries and 31* runs off 14 deliveries, respectively as Australia posted 241 runs on the board in the first innings.

Coming back from a mishap, which ruled Maxwell out of the ODI series against West Indies, he looked determined in the middle. He struggled to get going in the first match of the series but in the second one, he managed to get a good start and was able to capitalize on it. None of the plans West Indies had for him worked in the middle as Maxwell registered his second-highest total in T20 internationals.

Speaking about his incredible knock after the first innings, the star all-rounder stated that he was elated to play such a knock in front of his parents and mentioned that the wicket was really nice for batting and he took complete advantage of that.

“It was good fun, that’s for sure. Always good batting here, we saw in the Big Bash how good the wickets were during the tournament. The wicket was nice and true. I have always rely on my hand speed, worked for me today. Give myself the best chance always. My parents are here In Adelaide as well.
