Australia dominated South Africa in the third T20I, securing a comprehensive five-wicket victory to sweep the series 3-0. Despite South Africa posting a competitive total of 190 runs, Australia’s aggressive batting easily chased down the target with 13 balls remaining.

During the match, an intriguing incident caught the attention of the fans. A shot by a batter went into the crowd and was caught by a spectator, who amusingly signed the ball before returning it to the fielder.

Australia complete series whitewash

Coming back to the match, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they had a poor start with the bat as Temba Bavuma and Matthew Breetzke fell victim to the crafty swing bowling of Marcus Stoinis. South Africa found themselves in trouble at 12 for two in the third over.

Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram then formed a crucial partnership to steady the ship. Markram, however, was dismissed at the score of 70, and shortly after, Hendricks fell to the crafty leg-spin of Tanvir Sangha.

Towards the end of the innings, Donovan Ferreira played a brilliant knock of 48 off just 21 balls, smashing five sixes and one four. His contribution helped South Africa reach a competitive total of 190 runs, giving them hope of securing their first win of the series.

In the chase, Australia suffered an early setback as Markram dismissed Matt Short on the very first ball of the first over. Mitchell Marsh also failed to make an impact in this match. However, a brilliant partnership between Travis Head and Josh Inglis ensured that there were no further wickets lost until the 12th over. At that stage, Australia were comfortably placed at 128 for 3.

In the end, Head’s outstanding knock of 91 was enough for Australia to secure victory and complete a series sweep. Inglis and Stoinis also made valuable contributions with scores of 42 and 37 respectively. Australia won the match by five wickets, with Head being named the man of the match for his brilliant innings.

The focus now shifts to the upcoming ODI series between these two teams, with the first match scheduled for September 7.
