Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave another incredible performance in the ongoing fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 31-year-old pace-bowling specialist has once again carried the Indian bowling attack on his shoulders, leading the wicket charts in the five-match BGT 2024-25 (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) Test series.
Bumrah now has 29 wickets to his name in the BGT series. Though it has been a struggle for some of the Indian bowlers, the Gujarat-based bowler continued to bamboozle the Australian batters. In the Melbourne aka “Boxing Day” Test, the fiery pacer yet again brought back Team India into the game as he rattled the top order. As a result, he has had eight victims to his name in the Melbourne Test match alone.
The number one Test bowler in the ICC rankings has taken 70 wickets in the 13 matches he has played in the year 2024. Notably, in the 35 matches he has featured for Team India in these countries, Bumrah has taken a total of 142 wickets. Bumrah close to breaking Akram’s record
Meanwhile, when it comes to the Asian bowler who has taken most wickets in the SENA countries, the former Pakistan legend, Wasim Akram, tops the bowling chart. Akram claimed 146 wickets in the 32 matches he has played in these nations. While on the other hand, following him closely, Bumrah is currently just five wickets away from breaking his long-standing record.
