Australia have called up Ben Dwarshuis for the upcoming five-match ODI series against England, slated to begin on September 19. Ace pacer Xavier Barlett suffered a side strain in the first T20I against England and has been ruled out, which opened the door for Dwarshuis. Notably, Bartlett couldn’t finish his quota in the first T20I as he bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 26 runs for the wicket of Jordan Cox.
Meanwhile, pacers Spencer Johnson (side) and Nathan Ellis (hamstring) are already out injured and Barlett is the latest addition to the list. His injury might open the door for Riley Meredith in the second T20I in Cardiff. The 28-year-old has represented Australia in six T20Is and picked up nine wickets at an economy of 9.72. However, the Mitchell Marsh-led side also has Cooper Connolly and Aaron Hardie in the squad that they can turn to.

Australia beat England by 28 runs in the first T20I
Travis Head’s charismatic knock helped Australia pick up a 28-run win over England in the first T20I of the series in Southampton. The opener started slowly but changed gears to smash 59 off 23, which included a 30-run over against Sam Curran. He gave the perfect start to Australia, but the team management would be disappointed with the performance of the middle-order batters. Meanwhile, Josh Inglis made 37 runs as Australia posted 179 runs in the first innings.
When it came to the chase, England kept losing wickets in quick intervals. Stand-in captain Phil Salt gave a good start, smashing 20 off 12 but it got difficult for the hosts as time progressed. All-rounder Liam Livingstone made 37 and kept England in the hunt for quite some time but he had barely any support from the other end. England were eventually bundled out for 151 runs, and are now trailing in the series.
