Batting first after winning the toss, India scored 213 runs in the rain-marred first innings of the Asia Cup Super Four stage clash against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo on September 12.
Chasing a reasonable total, Sri Lanka got off to the worst possible start. Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s fierce reaction to Dimuth Karunaratne’s dismissal has gone viral. Notably, the Sri Lankan opener was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj, with Shubman Gill comfortably grabbing the ball over his head.

Sri Lanka also lost the wickets of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis before Karunaratne’s departure, with Jasprit Bumrah taking both.
Wellalage’s fifer, Asalanka’s four-wicket haul put India at 213 in 49.3 overs
Speaking of the match, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. India got off to a solid start but lost their opener Shubman Gill, in the 12th over. Meanwhile, the India skipper played a gritty knock of 48-ball 53 runs, including seven fours and two sixes.
Dunith Wellalage was Sri Lanka’s standout bowler, picking five crucial wickets of the star-studded Indian lineup. The 20-year-old finished with excellent figures of 5/40 in his ten-over spell. Meanwhile, Charith Asalanka also showcased his brilliant bowling skills, finishing with figures of 4/18. Meanwhile, Maheesh Theekshana picked the 10th wicket as India were restricted to 213 in 49.1 overs.
Apart from Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan provided significant contributions for the side, scoring 39 and 33 runs, respectively. They also stitched up a 63-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Sri Lanka will next take on co-hosts Pakistan in their final Super Four clash on September 14. India, on the other hand, will lock horns against Bangladesh on the next day at the same venue.
