The Super Four stage clash, or virtual semi-final, of the Asia Cup 2023 saw co-hosts Sri Lanka and Pakistan take on each other at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday, September 14. As has been the case several times, the clash was marred by rain.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 252 runs on the board in the 42 overs that were played due to the match being significantly shortened for both sides. Furthermore, through the DLS method, Sri Lanka got a target of 252 runs to chase down in the second innings.
Through brilliant performances by Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Charith Asalanka, Sri Lanka scored 252 runs and won the game by two wickets to book their place in the final. Furthermore, through the DLS method, the clash between Sri Lanka and Pakistan became the first-ever international game to be won (without tiebreaker) by a side after both teams scored equal runs in equal overs.
